Jammu and Kashmir: IGP Kashmir Directs Full Preparedness for Amarnath Yatra Security

Srinagar, June 19: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, has instructed senior police officers to ensure complete readiness to address all security and logistical challenges ahead of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. The directive emphasizes the robust implementation of the established security grid along the pilgrimage route.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the IGP Kashmir conducted a comprehensive briefing for Zonal and Sector Officers, focusing on reviewing coordination and operational preparedness. The meeting, held to gear up for the annual pilgrimage, was attended by Deputy Inspectors General of Police for CKR Srinagar and SKR Anantnag, DIG Armed Kashmir, SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, and other senior officials involved in the Yatra arrangements.

During the briefing, IGP Birdi underscored the critical importance of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and vigilance to guarantee the safe, smooth, and successful conduct of the Yatra. Officers were specifically directed to be fully equipped to manage potential security and logistical hurdles, reinforcing the effectiveness of the existing security framework.
