Allegations of political ‘horse-trading’ have surfaced in Tamil Nadu, with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) organising secretary R.S. Bharathi claiming that two ruling party MLAs were offered ministerial berths and financial inducements to switch allegiance.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that a delegation led by R.S. Bharathi met Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Tuesday. During their meeting, the DMK leaders submitted a memorandum detailing their concerns over alleged attempts to destabilise the state government through corrupt political practices.
The memorandum specifically pointed to the alleged offers made to two DMK Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). According to the allegations, these MLAs were approached with promises of ministerial positions and substantial sums of money in an effort to persuade them to defect from the party. The complaint also alluded to the alleged presence of two private individuals at a recent state Cabinet meeting, a detail the DMK finds deeply concerning and indicative of undue influence in governance.
The DMK has accused the opposition parties of engaging in unethical practices to undermine the elected government. Bharathi, in his capacity as a senior leader, has called for a thorough investigation into these claims, urging the Governor to take appropriate action to safeguard the integrity of the legislative process and the functioning of the state government. The party maintains that such alleged actions are a direct threat to democratic principles and the mandate of the people.
