A 21-year-old cricketer died after reportedly suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while playing a match at Sports Stadium Thaloran in the Bhalessa region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Monday. The incident occurred during the ongoing Bhalessa Chenab Premier Cricket League, bringing the tournament to a standstill.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the deceased has been identified as Suhail Furqan, a resident of Kulshari village in Bhalessa. Live visuals from the match showed Furqan collapsing shortly after completing his bowling over. Fellow players and others present on the ground immediately rushed to his aid, checking his condition and attempting to provide assistance while some waved caps to help circulate air.

He was subsequently shifted to Primary Health Centre Changa for emergency medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival. Medico-legal formalities were underway at the time of filing this report.
