A tempo bearing registration number JK06B-8096 met with an accident near Dongroo (Shounsh Nallah) in Jathali Mohalla of Mohalla tehsil, Doda district, on July 25, resulting in multiple casualties.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, two women were declared brought dead at Associated Hospital GMC Doda. Hospital records identified the deceased as Asha Devi (30), wife of Ajay Sharma of Jathali, and Minakshi Devi (29), wife of Shiv Kumar of Jathali.
The injured include Shavinesh (3), son of Shiv Kumar of Jathali; Ajay Sharma (33), son of Bharat Bhushan of Jathali; Trashan (2), son of Ajay Sharma of Jathali; Nasib Singh (35), son of Rajinder Singh of Dongroo; and Shiv Kumar (35), son of Bharat Bhushan of Jathali.
Hospital records showed that four of the injured were undergoing treatment at GMC Doda, while Shiv Kumar was referred to GMC Jammu for specialised medical care due to the severity of his injuries.
The circumstances that led to the accident were not immediately known. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the crash.
Road accidents remain a recurring concern in the hilly districts of Jammu and Kashmir, where steep terrain, narrow roads and challenging driving conditions frequently contribute to such incidents.
