Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Addresses PMSSS Portal Mismatches

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has assured students that it is actively working to resolve discrepancies on the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) portal. The assurance comes after numerous students raised concerns that their revised marks from the Higher Secondary Part-II Division Improvement Examination (Bi-Annual) 2025 were not being reflected online, potentially jeopardizing their scholarship applications.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that students from the Jammu division reported difficulties in completing their PMSSS applications. The online portal was reportedly rejecting their submissions due to mismatches between their updated examination scores and the records previously uploaded by JKBOSE. Parents expressed anxiety, noting that Thursday marked the deadline for scholarship applications, and students feared missing out on the opportunity due to these technical issues.

Dr. Parveen Singh, Director Academics at JKBOSE, stated that the board has successfully resolved over 200 to 250 PMSSS portal mismatch cases through ongoing collaboration with the PMSSS authorities in New Delhi. He explained that verification issues typically arise when the PMSSS portal cross-references candidate data against the initial upload by JKBOSE. Subsequent updates, including corrections to names, revised marks following re-evaluations or improvement exams, and the inclusion of practical marks, can lead to these discrepancies.

Dr. Singh further elaborated that JKBOSE has been in constant communication with the PMSSS authorities, under the guidance of the Chairman, to ensure that records are updated and pending cases are processed promptly. He urged students whose verification issues remain unresolved to visit their respective JKBOSE offices without delay. This, he noted, would allow for their cases to be prioritized and addressed efficiently.

Highlighting the urgency, Dr. Singh pointed to the compressed admission calendar for the current year. In accordance with directives from the Supreme Court to finalize engineering and higher education admissions by August 15, the timely resolution of pending scholarship-related cases has become critically important. The board’s efforts are aimed at ensuring that eligible students are not disadvantaged by administrative or technical delays, especially given the compressed timelines for higher education admissions.

The Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to students from Jammu and Kashmir for pursuing higher education in institutions across India. The scheme plays a crucial role in enabling access to quality education for students from the region. The timely resolution of these portal mismatches is essential for the smooth functioning of the scholarship application process and to ensure that students can benefit from the opportunities provided under the scheme.

JKBOSE continues to engage with PMSSS authorities to streamline the data verification process and prevent future occurrences of such mismatches. The board is committed to supporting students in their academic pursuits and ensuring that administrative processes facilitate, rather than hinder, their educational aspirations. The ongoing coordination is expected to lead to a more robust and efficient system for managing scholarship applications in the future.
