Atiq Ahmed’s Youngest Son Killed in Road Accident in Jhansi

Abaan Ahmed, the youngest son of the slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, died in a road accident in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. He was travelling to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmed, who is currently lodged in Jhansi jail.

Vehicle Hit Highway Divider

The accident occurred on the Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway near the Poonch police station limits. According to police reports, the SUV in which Abaan Ahmed was travelling lost control and collided with the highway divider. Two individuals, Abaan Ahmed and his friend Sonu, were declared dead at the scene. Three other occupants of the vehicle sustained critical injuries and were admitted to the Montha Community Health Centre for treatment.

Background of Atiq Ahmed’s Family

Atiq Ahmed, a former Samajwadi Party MP, was himself a controversial figure with a long history of criminal cases. He and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead in April 2023 while in police custody in Prayagraj. This incident followed the killing of Atiq Ahmed’s other son, Asad Ahmed, in a police encounter in Jhansi in the same month. Asad was wanted in connection with the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal and two police personnel in Prayagraj in February 2023.
