In an unconventional display of resolution to domestic discord, a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Sant Kabir Nagar district facilitated and attended the marriage ceremony of his wife with her lover.
The Chenab Times has learned that the unusual event transpired in Debri village, where Buddhiram Nishad, aged 45, orchestrated the marriage of his wife, Phoolmati, 37, to Awadhesh, 26, a man with whom she had reportedly developed a relationship.
The couple, Buddhiram and Phoolmati, had reportedly been married for approximately 21 years and had five children together, including an 18-year-old son. The marital harmony reportedly began to falter several months ago when Phoolmati allegedly fell in love with Awadhesh.
Following the emergence of this relationship, Phoolmati reportedly left her marital home with Awadhesh approximately two months prior to the wedding ceremony. However, she later returned to her family home after family members intervened and persuaded her to do so. Despite her return, the underlying issues and discord within the household persisted, prompting Buddhiram to seek an alternative resolution.
Buddhiram Nishad subsequently decided to arrange for his wife to marry Awadhesh. The wedding ceremony took place at a local Shiva temple in Asrafpur village on Tuesday. Villagers were reportedly present to witness the event, and Buddhiram Nishad himself attended the ceremony, participating in the customary rituals and offering a farewell to his wife and her new husband.
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Buddhiram Nishad stated that while he had married Phoolmati over two decades ago, she had expressed her desire not to continue living with him. He explained his decision by saying, “I do not wish to live with daily discordance in the house. So, I decided to get her married off to the person she wanted to live with.” This statement indicates a desire to resolve the ongoing marital conflict in a manner he deemed appropriate and peaceful for all involved parties.
The local police have confirmed that no formal complaint has been lodged with them concerning the incident. The events unfolded without any reported interference or legal ramifications from law enforcement authorities.
