The Quit India Movement, also known as the Bharat Chhodo Andolan, was a significant turning point in India’s long struggle for independence from the British Empire. Launched under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, it called for the immediate withdrawal of British forces from India and mobilized Indians in a nationwide non-violent civil disobedience campaign.
