The Mandi-Manali stretch of the Kirathpur-Manali National Highway experienced a landslip near the Jhalogi tunnel in Mandi district, forcing its closure to vehicular traffic.
Officials stated that the highway will be reopened once the rainfall subsides and the situation stabilises. The closure of this vital national highway is expected to impact transportation and logistics in the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall across many parts of Himachal Pradesh, with heavy to very heavy showers expected in isolated areas.
