Jammu: Joint Anti-Militant Mock Drill Held at Mata Vaishno Devi Base Camp Ahead of Independence Day

JAMMU: Security forces conducted a joint anti-fidayeen mock drill at the base camp of the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra on Wednesday, assessing the preparedness and coordination of various agencies ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. The exercise aimed to simulate a terror-related security contingency and evaluate response mechanisms.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the drill was supervised by the Superintendent of Police (SP) and carried out by the Reasi district police in collaboration with the Special Operations Group, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Army’s medium regiment. Health services and fire and emergency services also participated in the operation.

The simulated scenario involved the immediate mobilisation of forces, cordoning and sanitisation of the area, neutralisation of a mock threat, evacuation of civilians, casualty management, and the response of fire and emergency services. Officials stated that the exercise was designed to test the effectiveness of established standard operating procedures, communication channels, and rapid response mechanisms. It also identified areas requiring further improvement in preparedness.

The primary objective of the drill was to enhance inter-agency coordination, communication, operational synergy, and swift decision-making processes. This integrated approach is crucial for ensuring a cohesive and effective response to any unforeseen security challenges that may arise during the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
