Jammu & Kashmir Origin IAS Officer Appointed Joint Commissioner Industries in Delhi

An Indian Administrative Service officer from Jammu and Kashmir, Arjun Gupta, has been appointed as the Joint Commissioner (Industries) in Delhi. The posting is with immediate effect.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that Gupta, a 2024-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, originates from Trikuta Nagar in Jammu. His family roots are in Ramkot village of Kathua district.

Gupta achieved an All India Rank of 32 in the 2023 UPSC Civil Services Examination. He holds an Integrated BS-MS degree in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. Prior to entering civil services, Gupta had a tenure as a business analyst at McKinsey and Company. In 2022, he secured the top position in the Indian Economic Service examination. Subsequently, he cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination and was initially selected for the Indian Police Service before reappearing for the exam and securing a position in the IAS.

Following his foundational training, Gupta was assigned the role of Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development in New Delhi on August 6, 2026. His most recent appointment places him as the Joint Commissioner (Industries) under the administration of the Delhi Government.
