JAMMU, September 14: The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, conducted an operational visit to forward areas in the Akhnoor sector on Monday. The primary objective of the visit was to assess the prevailing security dynamics and review the preparedness of the troops deployed in the region.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Army Commander commended the soldiers for their unwavering commitment and robust spirit in protecting the nation’s borders. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high levels of vigilance and combat readiness at all times.
During his visit, Lieutenant General Sharma interacted with the troops and reviewed various operational aspects. He underscored the need for continuous improvement in operational capabilities to effectively counter any emerging threats. The commander’s visit is seen as a reaffirmation of the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the sensitive border areas.
The Akhnoor sector, situated along the Line of Control, is strategically important and frequently sees security patrols and operational exercises. The Northern Command, headquartered in Udhampur, is responsible for guarding India’s borders with Pakistan and China in the northern sector, including the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, as well as parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
The Northern Command on its official X handle, formerly Twitter, stated, “The Army Commander commended the troops for their relentless resolve and formidable spirit in safeguarding the Nation.” The post further added that Lieutenant General Sharma encouraged all ranks to pursue excellence in operational capability and remain responsive and combat-ready.
Such high-level visits by senior military commanders are crucial for boosting troop morale and ensuring that operational strategies are aligned with the current security challenges. They also provide an opportunity for commanders to gain firsthand insights into the ground situation and address any logistical or operational concerns faced by the units.
