Srinagar: The Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir convened a significant meeting in Srinagar, chaired by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The gathering, which brought together over 70 Ulema and Mashaikh from across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, focused on contemporary societal challenges and the imperative of unity within the Muslim Ummah. This marks the first major Ulema conference held in Srinagar in over two years, following official permission for the event.

A primary concern highlighted was the rising tide of drug and substance abuse, alongside an increase in suicides and self-harm incidents among the youth. The resolutions also pointed to challenges related to mental health, the irresponsible use of social media, the erosion of family bonds, and environmental degradation.
