Hoteliers in the popular tourist resort of Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir, have formally requested the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to reinstate an uninterrupted 24×7 electricity supply. They cite frequent power interruptions and restricted supply as detrimental to hotel operations and detrimental to the visitor experience.
Information was available with The Chenab Times detailing that the Beopar Mandal Association, Sonamarg, in a formal letter to the Superintending Engineer, KPDCL Ganderbal, highlighted the critical necessity of continuous power for essential hotel services. These include lighting, heating, cooling, kitchen operations, and water supply, all of which are significantly impacted by erratic electricity.
The association further conveyed that the current power disruptions were compromising guest safety and comfort. This situation, they warned, is negatively affecting business operations and undermining Sonamarg’s reputation as a premier tourist destination. The hoteliers emphasized their commitment to maintaining the quality of services expected by tourists.
In their communication, the association stated, “We are writing on behalf of hoteliers located in Sonamarg District Ganderbal to request the restoration of uninterrupted 24×7 electricity supply to our establishment.” This plea underscores the direct impact of power outages on their ability to serve guests effectively.
The traders’ body also affirmed that all outstanding dues related to electricity consumption have been settled. They assured the KPDCL that the hoteliers are fully compliant with the department’s regulations and guidelines. This assertion aims to preempt any potential objections regarding non-payment or regulatory non-compliance.
The hoteliers are seeking an immediate restoration and assurance of a consistent power supply. They believe that a stable electricity infrastructure is fundamental to the success of their businesses and the overall appeal of Sonamarg as a tourist destination.
