Security forces in north Kashmir’s Handwara successfully busted a militant hideout in the Nadgana forest area on Wednesday, recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition. The operation, based on specific intelligence, led to the discovery and destruction of an old hideout, thwarting potential militant activities.
Arms and Ammunition Recovery
Information was available with The Chenab Times that a joint search operation was conducted by Handwara Police, along with the 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 92 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation targeted the forest area of NagdaNar, Handwara. During the extensive search, the joint team located an abandoned hideout.
The recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, three grenades, 857 rounds of AK ammunition, 192 rounds for the PIKA weapon, eight AK magazines, one silencer, and 83 rounds of pistol ammunition. Incriminating material was also seized from the hideout.
Case Registered and Investigation Underway
Following the discovery, a case has been registered at Police Station Handwara under FIR No. 252/2026, pertaining to relevant sections of the law. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter to gather further details and identify any associated individuals or networks.
The recovery signifies a successful counter-militancy operation, preventing potentially lethal weapons and ammunition from falling into the wrong hands. Such operations are crucial in maintaining peace and security in the region.
