The Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in Una concluded its three-day inter-college hockey tournament on Saturday, with Government College, Una, securing the boys’ title and Government College, Paonta Sahib, clinching the girls’ championship. The event saw participation from various colleges across Himachal Pradesh.
Hosts Una and Paonta Sahib Clinch Hockey Titles
Government College, Una, hosted the annual inter-college hockey tournament which culminated with the boys’ and girls’ final matches on Saturday. The Higher Education Department’s Director, Sunita Singh, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
The Chenab Times has learned that in the girls’ final, Government College, Paonta Sahib, emerged victorious, defeating the host team, Government College, Una, by a decisive margin of five goals to nil. The boys’ final witnessed a closely contested match, with the home team, Government College, Una, triumphing over Government College, Paonta Sahib, with a scoreline of three goals to one.
The tournament provided a platform for collegiate athletes from across the state to compete. The bronze medals in the girls’ section were awarded to Government College, Solan, while Government College, Ghumarwin, secured the third position in the boys’ category.
Speaking at the conclusion, the Principal of Government College, Una, Meeta Sharma, expressed her gratitude to all participating teams and officials. She acknowledged the effort involved in bringing together athletes from different parts of Himachal Pradesh for the competition.
