India’s Cultural Heritage Gaining Global Recognition: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India’s rich cultural heritage, encompassing its music, dance, cinema, and cuisine, is increasingly resonating with societies worldwide, fostering growing international recognition.

The Chenab Times has learned that the Prime Minister conveyed this sentiment in a written message addressed to the participants of the ‘Brihattar Bharat: International Conference on Bharat’s Cultural Connections Across the Globe’. The conference, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi from October 14-16, focuses on India’s extensive civilisational heritage and its global cultural linkages.

In his message, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to not only preserving historical monuments but also safeguarding India’s manuscript heritage through initiatives like ‘Gyan Bharatam’. He further noted that efforts to repatriate antiquities from foreign nations have gained significant momentum, underscoring a renewed focus on reclaiming cultural artifacts.

The conference, organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) under the Ministry of Culture, serves as a platform for delegates, ambassadors, and scholars from various countries to discuss India’s historical and contemporary cultural relationships with the global community. The event also marks the centenary of the Greater India Society, originally known as the Brihattar Bharat Parishad, which was established in Calcutta on October 14, 1926, with Rabindranath Tagore as its spiritual guide.

The inaugural session of the conference was attended by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The Union Culture Secretary, Vivek Aggarwal, was responsible for reading out the Prime Minister’s message to the assembled attendees. The discourse at the conference aims to explore the multifaceted aspects of India’s cultural legacy that extend beyond its geographical borders, emphasizing its enduring civilisational impact.
