Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut on Sunday asserted that the actions of opposition parties underscore the imperative for continued strong leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Ranaut, speaking to reporters at Swami Vivekananda Airport, drew parallels between recent unrest in France and ongoing global conflicts to argue that these events highlight the necessity of PM Modi’s decisive governance for India.
Responding to queries about the Opposition’s calls for “regime change,” the actor-turned-politician stated that such “low-level acts” serve as a constant reminder to the nation about the importance of robust leadership. She cited the recent disturbances in France, where, according to her account, historical structures were damaged and looting occurred, as an example of circumstances necessitating strong leadership.
The remarks from the Opposition regarding “regime change” have drawn criticism, particularly following a statement by senior advocate Prashant Bhushan. Bhushan had remarked during a press conference that expressing “disaffection” against a government is not an offense in a democratic framework, and that the current struggle is “really for a regime change.” This statement has elicited sharp reactions from several BJP leaders.
Ranaut further commented on the global security situation, noting that the world is observing developments related to a potential World War. She contended that the Opposition’s actions and statements on a daily basis reinforce the argument for India to have strong leadership, exemplified by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In addition to her political commentary, the Mandi MP also expressed condolences regarding the deaths of 19 individuals in a stampede at a Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata. She described the incident as extremely tragic and advised citizens to exercise caution and avoid overcrowded venues during festive periods.
The stampede occurred on Saturday evening at the Chorbagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal in north Kolkata. Reports indicate that a surge in the crowd, exacerbated by rainfall, led to the unfortunate event, resulting in 19 fatalities and injuries to 25 people.
