Jammu, Feb 4 – A motorcyclist was killed on Monday when a speeding cement-laden truck struck him in the New Plots area of Jammu, police said.
The victim, Akshay Kumar, a resident of Bhaderwah area of Chenab Valley, died at the scene. He had recently moved to the Chinore area to live with relatives.
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. near the Radha Krishna Temple. A police team led by Bakshi Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Azad Ahmed responded swiftly and arrested the truck driver, identified as Raj Kumar from RS Pura.
“We have booked the driver under Section 106 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),” Ahmed said.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
