The Chenab Times has learned that the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir was accorded a guard of honour during the proceedings in Srinagar, a customary acknowledgement of the head of the administration. This marks the formal commencement of the government’s functioning from the summer capital.

The Darbar Move tradition dates back to the Dogra rule and was established to ensure that the administration functioned from a location that was more accessible or suitable according to the season. Historically, the civil secretariat and other important government offices would physically relocate, along with their staff, from Srinagar to Jammu during winter and vice-versa during summer. This practice aimed to facilitate governance and bring the administration closer to the populace in different parts of the Union Territory.
