The Rajya Sabha member emphasized that the people had granted the National Conference a significant mandate. However, in his view, the government had not lived up to its commitments. He also accused the administration of mismanagement of public resources and a general neglect of public welfare initiatives.

Regarding the broader political landscape, Mr. Khatana expressed his view on the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that statehood would be reinstated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and not through the efforts of the current National Conference government.
