Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Evian, France, on Tuesday to participate in the G7 Summit, a significant international forum where leaders convene to discuss pressing global issues. This marks India’s eighth consecutive invitation to the summit, underscoring its growing role on the global stage.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Modi expressed his anticipation for engaging with world leaders and exchanging views on critical global challenges. In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated, “Reached Evian, France, for the G7 Summit. Looking forward to engaging with world leaders and exchanging views on key global issues.” He further emphasized India’s commitment to fostering collective efforts towards a more sustainable and prosperous planet.
The Prime Minister’s arrival in Evian followed his visit to Geneva, Switzerland. At Geneva airport, he was warmly received by Swiss President Guy Parmelin. The two leaders engaged in cordial discussions, reaffirming their dedication to enhancing the partnership between India and Switzerland.
Prior to his arrival in France, Prime Minister Modi concluded a productive visit to Slovakia. This trip was notable as it was the first time an Indian prime minister had visited the Central European nation. During his bilateral engagements in Slovakia, India and the country elevated their relationship to a comprehensive partnership, signing 11 agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in diverse sectors including migration, digital technology, and defence.
The Prime Minister conveyed his gratitude to the Slovakian government and its people for their hospitality, noting that the outcomes of the visit would significantly contribute to strengthening bilateral ties and benefiting the youth through enhanced trade relations.
The G7 Summit serves as a platform for leaders of the Group of Seven major advanced economies—Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States—along with invited guests, to deliberate on critical economic and political issues facing the international community. India’s participation as an invitee reflects its influence and its role as a key partner in addressing global challenges.
