Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged for global partnerships to be built on the foundations of trust, transparency, and shared ownership, addressing the Outreach Session on “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity” at the G7 Summit in Evian, France.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Prime Minister Modi articulated that in an increasingly interconnected world, challenges spanning energy, food, health, cyber, and economic security are intrinsically linked, underscoring the necessity of international cooperation for global progress and prosperity. He cautioned that the misuse of trade and technology for narrow interests is fostering a trust deficit within the international system.
Drawing lessons from the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister appealed to nations to enhance trust and transparency in their collaborative endeavors. He highlighted India’s consistent adherence to the principle of “humanity first” in its international initiatives, citing examples such as the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Global Biofuel Alliance, Mission LiFE, and the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign.
The Prime Minister also pointed to India’s role as an early responder during natural disasters worldwide, including cyclones in Sri Lanka, earthquakes in Afghanistan, floods in Mozambique, and hurricanes in Jamaica, as a testament to its commitment to inclusive cooperation. He further elaborated on India’s development philosophy, guided by the mantra of “Sarv Jan Hitaye, Sarv Jan Sukhaye” (welfare and happiness for all), which has propelled advancements in financial inclusion, health security, digital identity, technology-driven empowerment, and women-led development.
Emphasizing a shift from traditional donor-recipient dynamics, Prime Minister Modi advocated for global partnerships to be grounded in solidarity and equal ownership. He identified a lack of adherence to international law as a significant impediment to building international solidarity, calling for a prioritization of dialogue and diplomacy to maintain peace and stability.
Prime Minister Modi’s address took place during the G7 Outreach Session, an event designed to convene G7 member states and partner countries to deliberate on critical global issues and explore avenues for strengthening international cooperation. The session provided a platform for leaders to exchange views on a range of pressing global concerns, reinforcing the importance of collaborative approaches in addressing multifaceted international challenges.
