Eighteen candidates have been shortlisted for the crucial post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust, a development following an extensive application process that saw over 5,300 individuals apply. The selection for this key administrative role, responsible for managing the affairs and associated businesses of the Ram temple, is underway, with interviews scheduled to take place at the temple premises.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that a screening committee undertook the initial review of the applications, narrowing down the pool to 18 individuals who will now face a panel of interviewers. Candidates possessing significant administrative experience are reportedly being favored for this position, indicating a focus on robust management capabilities.
The interviews are slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, conducted by a distinguished panel. This panel includes former Justice Pramod Kohli, Lieutenant General (retired) Vishnukant Chaturvedi, and scientist Suresh Haware, who previously served as the chairman of the Shirdi Sai Baba Trust. Their collective expertise is expected to guide the selection of a suitable candidate for the demanding role.
The responsibilities of the CEO are extensive, encompassing the comprehensive administration and management of the Ram temple’s operations and any related commercial ventures. The trust aims to establish a strong and transparent administrative framework to ensure the smooth functioning of the temple complex.
Further details provided by sources indicate specific eligibility criteria for the role. The selected candidate must be a practising Hindu, adhere strictly to Hindu traditions and guidelines, and maintain a vegetarian diet. Additionally, the individual must be a teetotaller, emphasizing a lifestyle aligned with the sanctity of the temple. The age criterion for applicants has been set between 50 and 70 years, aiming for candidates with a balance of experience and continued capacity to serve.
The decision to appoint a CEO emerged in the wake of allegations of embezzlement concerning donations made to the Ram temple. These allegations surfaced in the first week of June, prompting swift action from the authorities. The Uttar Pradesh government responded by constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13 to conduct a thorough probe into the matter. The SIT was initially given a 15-day period to complete its investigation.
Following the submission of a preliminary report by the SIT on June 23, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on June 25. This led to the arrest of eight individuals implicated in the alleged embezzlement. The arrested accused have been identified as Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava, and Ramashankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu Yadav.
During the course of the investigation, law enforcement agencies recovered substantial amounts of cash from several of the accused. The highest recovery, amounting to Rs 20.39 lakh, was made from Avinash Shukla. In addition to cash, significant quantities of gold, silver, and foreign currency were also seized as part of the ongoing investigation into the temple funds.
