ANI misquoted ‘Tablighi Jamat’ links with COVID19; Police say fake news

Muslim scholars Arshad Madani, Ahmed Bukhari and Mahmood Madani condemn Tablighi meet, but also criticise what they call the 'communalisation of the pandemic'.

In the running controversies made on Tablighi Jamaat of Muslims community regarding Coronavirus termed them as Mass Spreader in India and Tablighi Jamat fake news make the lives of Muslim community worse. Where many TV channel shown it as conspiracy in India by Muslim community. India’s death toll from coronavirus crossed 100 this week, and over 4,000 cases have been reported so far. The health ministry on Monday said only 1,445 of these cases are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation that took place at its Nizamuddin headquarters in Delhi in mid-March.In the running controversies made on Tablighi Jamaat of the Muslim community regarding Coronavirus termed them as Mass Spreader of the disease in India and the fake news made the lives of Muslim community worse. The Fake News

Coming to the fake news ANI Asian News International is an Indian news agency based in New Delhi misquoted “Tablighi Jamat” as the contacts with patients – being quarantined in Noida. According to a tweet by ANI, “Those in Sector 5 Harola, Noida, who came in contact with Tablighi Jamaat members have been quarantined: Sankalp Sharma, Gautam Budh Nagar (DCP).”

Later, DCP Noida tweets, @ANINewsUP people who had come in contact with the positive case were quarantined as per laid proceedure. There was no mention of Tabligh Jamat. You are misquoting and spreading fake news,” while retweeting the news tweet by ANI.

After the tweet gone viral, the ANI retweeted it’s screenshot of the fake news and said corrections in it.

The ANI tweeted, “Correction- Those in Sector 5 Harola, Noida, who came in contact with #COVID19 positive case* have been quarantined: Sankalp Sharma, Gautam Budh Nagar (DCP).”
