In a bid to address the issue of inadequate infrastructure at Govt Degree College (GDC) Thathri, VDC Cell Convenor JKUT Basant Raj Thakur and executive member of BJYM JKUT Mannu Sharma met with DC Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan on 16 February 2023 to discuss the possibility of temporarily shifting the college to Govt High School Boys Thathri until a new building is constructed for the college.
During the meeting, Thakur highlighted the suffering of students due to the lack of infrastructure at the college and the need for immediate action to address the issue, as per The Chenab Times. He also called for the identification of suitable land near Thathri town for the construction of a new building for the college.
DC Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan assured Thakur that the issue will be given priority and that suitable land will be identified as soon as possible. GDC Thathri was established ten years ago in a rented building, and the lack of adequate infrastructure has been a persistent issue for students.
The proposal for the temporary shifting of the college to Govt High School Boys Thathri has been welcomed by students and educators alike, who hope that the move will provide a more conducive learning environment for students. The news has also sparked discussions about the need for better infrastructure for educational institutions in the region, with many calling for increased investment in education to ensure that students receive quality education.
