The Forest Department in Kuntwara Forest Range has undertaken a significant Educational Outreach and Plantation Drive in parts of Saraz region in Doda district. This comprehensive initiative, spearheaded by Forester Mohd Ramzan Banday and supported by a dedicated team comprising Khursheed Ahmed, Javeed Ahmed, and Vijay Kumar.
As per information reaching The Chenab Times, the initiative involved visits to various schools within the Educational Zone of Gundna, where forest officials engaged with students, imparting invaluable knowledge about the importance of forests, wildlife, and responsible forest management. These engaging sessions educated the young minds on the crucial role played by trees and forests in maintaining a healthy environment.
One of the notable aspects of this program was the emphasis on nurturing a sense of environmental advocacy among the students. Forest team members encouraged active participation in tree planting initiatives, motivating students to take ownership of their natural surroundings. This call to action resulted in students actively planting saplings and committing to their long-term care.
Simultaneously, the Forest Department’s plantation drive saw the locals, including students, coming together to enhance the region’s green cover. Native tree species were carefully selected for planting, thereby contributing to the region’s biodiversity and overall environmental well-being.
