In the latest rankings released by the National Health Mission (NHM), Jammu and Kashmir, the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda found itself at the bottom of the list among the Associated Hospitals of Government Medical Colleges in the region for the month of August 2023, as per reports. This revelation comes as part of NHM’s ongoing efforts to assess and improve the quality of public health facilities through its Hospital Management Information System, known as JK e Sahaj.
The top position in the category of Associated Hospitals of Government Medical Colleges was secured by the Jammu Psychiatric Disease Hospital, highlighting its commitment to providing quality healthcare services. Following closely behind were GMC Anantnag, SMGS Hospital in Jammu, Chest Disease Hospital in Jammu, and Government Lal Ded Hospital in Srinagar. In contrast, GMC Doda, unfortunately, found itself at the lower end of this ranking.
The rankings also extended to District Hospitals, where DH Ganderbal claimed the first position, showcasing its dedication to healthcare excellence. DH Shopian, DH Kishtwar, DH Samba, and ASYM DH Budgam followed closely. In contrast, District Hospitals in Poonch, Pulwama, Ramban, and Reasi were among those at the bottom of this category.
Within the Community Health Centre (CHC) category, CHC Rajpora in Pulwama secured the top rank, showcasing its effectiveness in delivering community-based healthcare. E.H Vijaypur Samba, CHC Sunderbani, CHC Kangan, and CHC Kralpora rounded out the top five performers in this category. CHCs in Taryath, Rohama, Kremshore, Gandoh, and Thanamandi were among the facilities ranked lower in this category.
JK e Sahaj, the Electronic System for Automation of Hospital Administration in Jammu and Kashmir, was formally launched in November 2022 as part of the Jashn-e-Sehat initiative. It encompasses various types of healthcare facilities, including Tertiary care, District Hospitals, Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres, and some New Type PHCs. This innovative system has been seamlessly integrated with the Rapid Assessment System (RAS), the 104 Centralised Health Helpline for outbound calling, and the RCH portal of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The rankings were determined based on several key metrics, including the registration of patients, the conversion of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), the registration of In-Patient Department (IPD) patients, and the feedback provided by patients. The rankings were released on a real-time basis and can be found on the NHM website.
