Woman dies in flash flood in Larnoo, Anantnag

A woman died on Thursday afternoon due to flash floods triggered by heavy rains in Larnoo village of Kokernag area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.

Station House Officer (SHO) Larnoo, Nisar Ahmad Hurra told that a 37-year-old woman identified as Sakeena Begum, wife of Nazir Ahmad Itoo of Narsanger Larnoo Anantnag were washed away in flash flood caused by heavy rains in Shutru Larnoo area of Kokernag.

He said she was working with her husband in the fields and after coming home, she fell into a water body where flow of water was high due to heavy rains, resulting in her death.

The body was later retrieved and handed over to her relatives for last rites, he said.
