J&K: Weekend Curfew Affects Normal Life, 3986 Persons Fined

According to officials, normal life was disrupted in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday as a result of the covid-19 lockdown.

To prevent people from moving, police and paramilitary forces erected barricades on roads throughout Srinagar, as well as other district headquarters throughout the Valley and the Jammu region. Essential and emergency services, on the other hand, are permitted, according to the officials.

While public transportation was unavailable, the majority of shops and other businesses remained closed.

“In the last 24 hours, police have arrested 15 people, filed 10 FIRs, and collected Rs 6,57,300 in fines from 3986 people across the Kashmir valley for violating the various guidelines/rules/SOPs regarding Covid-19,” a police spokesman told CT sources.

Last month, the government imposed a complete ‘Corona’ curfew from Friday 8 p.m. to Monday 7 a.m., with no movement permitted except for permissible activities, until further orders.

“The special drive against violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/ guidelines envisaged by the government to curb COVID-19 pandemic,” the spokesman said, adding, “Community members are once again requested to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/ guidelines.” The special drive to strengthen security measures will continue throughout the Kashmir Valley’s districts.”
