Naeem Akhtar, a senior leader of the People’s Democratic Party, was released on Sunday after being held in house detention since May 10 after being held in preventive detention at the MLA hostel in Srinagar since December 2020.
Naeem Akhtar was released from house detention today, according to sources.
Notably, Akhter has been held in house detention since May 10 after spending nearly five months in preventive custody at the MLA hostel in Srinagar since December 2020.
After being arrested in August of this year, Akhtar was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and released in June of last year after a ten-month detention. In December of last year, he was arrested again and held in preventive custody for nearly five months.
Sartaj Madni, a senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Mehbooba Mufti’s maternal uncle, was released from detention on Saturday.
