PDP trying to become new separatist party in Kashmir, says BJP’s Vibodh Gupta

Says Mehbooba leaving no way behind to become next Geelani of Kashmir

Vibodh Gupta, general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Jammu and Kashmir and in-charge of Kashmir, said on Thursday that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was attempting to establish itself as a new separatist party in the Valley.

After paying tributes to BJP leader Waseem Bari, his brother and father on their first death anniversary, who were killed in a militant attack on this last year at Bandipora, Gupta while speaking to reporters, according to the Kashmir-based news agency Kashmir News Observer, said that PDP was trying to become the separatist party in Kashmir, as Mehbooba Mufti does not leave any way behind to become the next Geelani of Kashmir.

In his words, “the PDP is fading away with each passing day because it is founded on lies, and they have always lied to the people.” He went on to say that BJP workers in Kashmir are being deliberately attacked because they have consistently thwarted the plans of separatist leaders, and that this is why the party wants their workers and leaders to have the highest level of security protection.

Furthermore, he stated that the BJP party has stood by the Bari family since his death, along with his father and younger brother, was first reported in the media.

While there, Altaf Thakur of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who was also in Bandipora today to pay tribute to Waseem Bari, his father, and brother, stated that they are always aware of the absence of courageous leaders such as Waseem Bari.

In Kashmir, he said, “our leaders and workers have always advocated for peace and progress, but the separatists and Pakistan are concerned about the same.” He added that the BJP’s Kashmir strategy will remain constant in the future.

Notably, on this day last year, Waseem Bari, who was the BJP’s district president for Bandipora at the time, was killed along with his father and younger brother in a militant attack outside their home in the Muslim Abad neighbourhood of Bandipora.
