Security forces discovered an IED near Kuriya Village in the Kishtwar District and destroyed it on the spot. Due to the approaching Independence Day, security measures in the Kishtwar District have been increased.
In the early hours of August 14, a joint Army-Police patrol party uncovered a suspicious-looking package along the road from Koriya to Shergwari. A tubular container with a bottle of gasoline was included in the delivery. The patrol crew quickly cordoned off the area and called in explosive detecting dogs to confirm the presence of explosives. The IED was eliminated in situ by professionals after confirmation of the same. According to sources, the road is utilised by residents and security forces, and it was set up by hostile groups to inflict damage and disruption in the area.
It’s also been discovered that the IED is comparable to ones previously discovered in Doda District and dubbed “sticky bombs.”
A police report has been made in this matter, and security personnel are investigating to learn more about the incident and identify the culprits.
The police have taken up the probe further.
