The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Monday denounced the filing of a FIR by state authorities in connection with the death of late Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s family.
The details revealed by Geelani’s son in the media that the authorities took his body into custody and buried it without the knowledge or participation of the family were awful and painful to hear, according to APHC.
“When a family is denied the basic right to bury their loved one, it is tragically inhuman, and one can only imagine what the family must have gone through. Following such retaliation, the authorities are now tormenting the family with FIRs and arrest threats, exposing their brutality even more,” the statement continues.
According to the APHC, the entire nation stands with the family of the slain leader in this hour of loss and injustice.
