During a time when many areas in Kishtwar town and its surrounding areas are experiencing water shortages due to the ongoing peak summer season, a person who built a house behind the SSP office in Kishtwar has encroached upon a hand pump meant for the use of local residents, prompting officials from the Jal Shakti department in Kishtwar to file a FIR against the encroacher.
According to the information available with The Chenab Times, Assistant Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, PHE Sub Division Kishtwar, via letter No. JS/PHE/HQ/SDJ/661-62 dated 14-9-2021, filed an official complaint with Station House Officer Kishtwar, requesting that he file a FIR against the person responsible for the covering of a hand pump into their home near the SP office in Kishtwar.
“In connection to the topic listed above, it is claimed that the undersigned has received a complaint from the concerned Field staff that someone named Sheetal Kumar has covered a hand pump situated near the SP office into his kitchen, causing water delivery to surrounding residents to be disrupted.” “So it is appealed to your good self to register FIR against these persons involved in the crime under relevant legislation and take serious punishment against these persons,” the letter continued.
Senior PHE officials express their surprise at how the accused person was able to carry out work on public property while encroaching on public property intended for the use of local residents of the area.
