The protests by the Helpers-to-Supervisors of the Social Welfare Department’s ICDS programme have continued unabated, as they continue to criticise the government over the recent disengagement orders.
The protestors began their gathering from Jehangir Chowk and marched to the Press Enclave, where they chanted anti-government slogans and demanded that the order be revoked immediately.

Rubeena Akhtar, the president of the Helpers-to-Supervisors Association, stated that they have worked in the department for 30 years and have had to protest for wage release on several occasions. “And now the government has issued an order disengaging us, which is a complete injustice,” she said according to Daily Excelsior.
While calling for an urgent reversal of the pullout orders, the protestors stated that it has now become a question of life and death for them.
“It has now become a question of life and death because our subsistence has become difficult as a result of the orders that have been issued; we demand that the directives be immediately cancelled,” the protestors added.
The protestors demanded urgent action against the officers who appointed them, claiming that the workers were appointed outside the field functionaries’ competence.
The protestors demanded, “Why do the poor always have to face the music; what about the action that needs to be taken against the officers who engaged us?”
