The National Investigation Agency announced on Tuesday that it conducted searches in numerous areas throughout Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the recovery of an IED in the Bathindi region of Jammu on June 27.
According to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the NIA conducted searches at eight places in J&K’s Anantnag, Baramulla, Kulgam, Srinagar, Doda, and Kishtwar districts with the help of the J&K Police and the CRPF.
He said the case was first filed as FIR No 0234/2021 of PS Bahu Fort District Jammu on June 27, 2021, referring to the recovery of a 5kg IED from a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant in Bathindi.
“The conspiracy by LeT was aimed at causing explosion in Jammu using the IED. The case was re-registered as RC-04/2021/NIA/JMU dated 19.07.2021 by the NIA, which had previously detained three people in the case “he stated
The inquiry indicated that Pakistan-based handlers of the outlawed LeT outfit and their J&K-based collaborators were organising militant activities in J&K under the pseudonym TRF in order to preserve plausible deniability and evade LEAs, according to the official.
“Many digital devices and other incriminating evidence were discovered on the suspects’ residences during today’s searches. The case is currently being investigated further “he stated
