“Is UP In Pakistan?”: Sena’s Sanjay Raut Lashes Out At BJP Over Oppostion Leaders’ Detention

Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena MP, slammed the BJP government, saying that Indians are being barred from entering the state and that the administration is enforcing Section 144 in Lakhimpur Kheri while arresting opposition leaders in Lucknow.

Mr Raut, a senior Shiv Sena politician, told ANI about the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, where eight people died on Sunday “In Lakhimpur Kheri, Section 144 of the CrPC has been implemented, while you (the government) are detaining (opposition leaders) in Lucknow. What type of legislation is this? Is UP in Pakistan, where Indians are not allowed to go? The ability to transition from one state to another is restricted. Is this the start of a new lockdown?”

He went on to say, “The administration is like a caged parrot of the ruling party, following the government’s orders. There is evidence that the farmers were run over by a car…”

Mr. Raut said, “Priyanka Gandhi has been arrested, Rahul Gandhi has been barred from flying, and a state chief minister has also been barred. What crime did they commit? Is the country governed by a new constitution?”

Mr Raut further stated that all opposition parties will discuss the possibility of sending a delegation to Lakhimpur Kheri.
