Sports equipment used by Olympians has attracted the highest bids so far in the e-auction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gifts, which is set to finish in just a few hours. On Thursday, the e-auction of PM’s souvenirs will close at 5 p.m.
Among all of the PM’s keepsakes, gold medalist Neeraj Chopra’s javelin has got the most bids. The current price of Chopra’s javelin stands at ₹1,00,50,000 as per the PM’s memento’s website. However, only two bids have been received so far. Chopra’s javelin garnered a price of ten crore on the first day of the auction, but it was later cancelled because to suspicions that it was a false bid.
On the other hand, the javelin used by Paralympian Sumit Antil’s with a base price of ₹1 crore, received a bid of ₹1,00,20,000 from one bidder.
The badminton racquet and bag of bronze medallist PV Sindhu received a single bid of ₹80,00,100 so far. A badminton racquet autographed by Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games gold medalist Krishna Nagar, on the other hand, received an offer of 80.15 lakh. Three bidders have expressed interest in Nagar’s racquet.
So yet, no bids have been received for the women’s hockey stick with autographs for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The hockey stick’s starting price is Rs. 80 lakh.
Whereas Boxing Gloves autographed by Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain received a bid of ₹80,00,100.
Aside selling Olympians’ sports equipment, historical and religious artefacts have piqued buyers’ curiosity.
A small metallic figurine showing Lord Rama, Hanuman, Laxman, and Goddess Sita, titled Bhagwan Ram Parivar, received 44 bids, with the highest being ₹1.35 lakh. Its base price was only ₹10,000.
A large-scale three-dimensional reproduction model of a DRDO tank put inside a glass box has garnered 23 bids, the highest of which is Rs. 5 lakh. Its base price was ₹75,000.
So far, bids have been placed on 1,083 of the 1,348 souvenirs.
The highest bidders will be notified by email when the auction concludes on October 7.
