Instagram Down For Some Users Days After Major Outage: Report

Some users were unable to use Facebook’s photo-sharing programme Instagram on Friday, only days after the social media giant experienced a six-hour outage due to a mistake during routine data centre maintenance.

On Friday, the web monitoring company Downdetector reported more than 36,000 cases of customers reporting troubles with Instagram. More than 800 faults with Facebook Messenger, the company’s chat programme, were also reported.

The Downdetector collects status updates from a variety of sources, including user-submitted mistakes on its platform, to track outages. It’s possible that a higher number of people were affected by the outage.

The outage on Monday was the largest Downdetector had ever seen, and it prevented billions of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp users from using their apps.

Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
