On Monday, gasoline and diesel prices were raised for the seventh day in a row across the country.
Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi rose by ₹0.30 (to ₹104.44/litre) and ₹0.35 (to ₹93.17/litre) today, respectively.
Today, petrol prices ₹110.41/litre in Mumbai (up by ₹0.29) and diesel costs ₹101.03/litre (up by ₹0.37).
In Kolkata, petrol has increased in price to ₹105.09, while diesel has increased in price to ₹96.28. Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu’s main city of Chennai, the price of gasoline has been raised to ₹101.79 rupees and the price of diesel has been raised to ₹97.59 rupees.
Petrol prices in Bengaluru, Karnataka’s capital, have risen to 108.08 per litre, while diesel prices have risen to 98.89 per litre.
Prices vary by state, based on the amount of local taxes levied.
The price of petrol has risen by 30 paise a litre for the seventh day in a row, and the price of diesel has risen by 35 paise, the largest rate increase in history.
Because the international benchmark Brent crude has risen to over ₹82 a barrel as a result of OPEC’s resolution not to increase supply by more than 0.4 million barrels per day, fuel prices have risen by a greater percentage.
Brent was at USD 72 per barrel a month ago.
Because India is a net importer of oil, it charges world prices for petrol and diesel.
On September 28 for gasoline and September 24 for diesel, a three-week respite in rates was broken by a spike in worldwide oil prices.
Prior to the July/August price decreases, from May 4 and July 17, the price of gasoline was raised by ₹11.44 per litre. During this time, the diesel rate had increased by 9.14 percent.
