Lays foundation stone of Kalam Centre for Science and Technology
According to a senior official of the DRDO, the organisation has produced anti-drone technology and passed it to industries that have received orders from the country’s armed forces and security forces.
“The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has developed anti-drone technology. “It contains all the necessary aspects to counter drones, whether it’s detection, tracking, or monitoring, as well as a process called software and hardware,” said G Satheesh Reddy, the head of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the DRDO-sponsored Kalam Centre for Science and Technology (KCST) foundation stone-laying event at the Central University of Jammu in Samba.
According to Reddy, the technology has been transmitted to a number of firms that have received orders from the country’s armed forces and security forces.
“They’re going to give it to them.” “They’ll be sending it to them (security and armed personnel) to deal with the drones coming in from over the border,” he added.
The anti-drone system’s capability has been shown several times, according to Reddy, who added, “It was deployed on Independence Day and Republic Day as well.”
Dr G Satheesh Reddy, the Defence R&D Secretary and Chairman of the DRDO, had set the foundation stone for the Kalam Centre for Science and Technology (KCST) on the campus of Central University of Jammu earlier.
He predicted that KCST will become a renowned research and work centre in the country.
Reddy was joined by CUJ Vice-Chancellor Ashok Aima, Director General (TM) Hari Babu Srivastava, Director General (MED & CoS) Sudhir Kamath, Advisor Cyber (GoI) Amit Sharma, and others at the foundation stone-laying event.
In the current context, Reddy stressed the relevance of two verticals in KCST: computational system security and sensors.
He also stressed the necessity of talent development in computational security, as well as the protection of cyber-physical systems and data security throughout routing.
The CUJ VC expressed gratitude to the DRDO chairman for this initiative, which would usher in a new era for the university.
Under the computational system security vertical, the governing council unanimously approved three research projects totaling Rs 30 crore.
