Adv Neelofar supports K-fruit traders’ protest, says Kashmiri Apple growers suffering huge loss

After Kashmiri fruit traders protest against the “illegal selling” of Iranian apples in the Mandis, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Leader Adv Neelofar Masood lashes out at the government’s “Make in India” slogan, saying, “Make in India is just a slogan.”

Terming it a “serious matter of concern,” Adv Neelofar Masood, who is a well-known news TV panellist as NC Leader and president of Women’s wing NC for Baramulla district, tweeted on Monday and said, “Make in India……just a slogan. Iranian Apple 🍎 which are imported tax free being cheap are preferred in markets rather then Kashmiri Apples which are the best in quality thereby huge loses being suffered by fruit growers. A serious matter of concern.”

It is pertinent to mention that the fruit market has suffered badly in the last few months as Iranian apples were “illegally” and freely sold in Indian markets, say those associated with the fruit trade in Asia’s second-largest fruit mandi in the apple town of Sopore area of northern Kashmir.

While seeking the ban on Iranian apples in the country, the traders also staged a protest demonstration on Monday at the fruit trade, stating that the import of Iranian apples to India has completely downgraded the fruit industry of Kashmir.

As per news agency KNO, “The traders also appealed to the central government and LG-led administration to ban the import of Iranian apples so that the local apple trade won’t suffer.”
