Man held for selling spurious ‘Tata Salt’ in Bhaderwah, 20 Quintals salt recovered

A man was arrested in Bhaderwah on Saturday for using Tata company logo on the spurious salt.

Sh. Abdul Qayoom, SSP Doda, stated that he received a written complaint from one Mohit Sharma, a TATA Company representative and employee, alleging that some individuals/firms are illegally selling spurious salt in the name of TATA Company by copying their print as well as logo and brand name.

Case FIR No. 17/2022 U/s 420, 481, 483, 486, 120-B IPC and section 63 copyright act was registered at Police Station Bhaderwah in response to this complaint, and an inquiry was launched. During the course of the inquiry, a P/S Bhaderwah Police squad searched one shop, Malik Enterprises, where they confiscated around 20 quintal of spurious salt in the presence of the Magistrate, and the Godown was also shut. Mehraj Malik S/O Gh. Hassan Malik R/O Udrana Bhaderwah has been arrested, and the case is currently under investigation.

Under the direction of SDPO Bhaderwah Sh. Abdul Gafoor Malik, the police team of P/S Bhaderwah, which includes SHO P/S Bhaderwah Insp. Jatinder Singh and others, is investigating the matter under the overall supervision of SSP Doda.
