District Development Councils (DDCs) were unable to use 20 to 50 percent of their Capex (Capital Expenditure) budgets in their first fiscal year for a variety of reasons, and this budget will not be carried forward to the new fiscal year of 2022–23, for which the budget has yet to be finalised, according to reports reaching The Chenab Times said.
Jammu, Ramban, and Kishtwar districts have lost nearly half of their Capex budgets, while Doda district, despite being mountain-bound and containing mostly hilly areas, has topped with nearly 90% of its expenditure, the Daily Excelsior reported.
As per reports, the DDCs in these down districts blames administration for lapse of 20 to 50% Capex budget.
DDC Kahara Mehraj Malik in a speech in Kishtwar on Saturday said, “I have utilised 90-95% of my Capex budget 2021-22 for my constituency, which higher utilisation than other DDCs in Jammu and Kashmir. I stopped the budget lapse in my area because my target is that the amount which released for my people should be used among them.”
