Four Militants were killed in encounter while three soldiers were killed when a Sumo was met with an accident at Kanipora hamlet in the Shopian area of South Kashmir.
A Sumo carrying soldiers from the 44 RR Chowgam Camp was on its route to the encounter site in Budigam, according to official sources.
According to them, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which went off the road. The incident resulted in the injuries of four soldiers.
According to sources, the injured were taken to District Hospital Shopian, where two of them succumbed. The remaining two injured soldiers were sent to the 92 Base Army Hospital in Srinagar, they said. Later, one more soldier succumbed.
Meanwhile, four Lashker-e-Toiba militants killed in the Shopian district’s Badigam area were linked to six incidents, including attacks on outside labourers, and a 12-bore weapon stolen from a JK Bank guard in Muran Pulwama was recovered from them, Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said on Thursday.
According to him, the militants were active in Shopian and the surrounding areas of Pulwama. “They were involved in six cases, including attacks on outside labourers,” he added, adding that “the hunt for their allies, such as Aijaz of Pulwama, is on and they will be neutralised shortly.”
The encounter site also yielded the 12 bore rifle snatched from a bank guard in Muran Pulwama earlier this year, according to the top police officer.
