Following the Covid-19 outbreak, the world is concerned about schooling after the lockdown, as there are a slew of issues to contend with. It is expected that the pandemic will have a significant impact on the world’s education ambitions.
According to UNESCO, the education sustainable development goals (SDG4), which were hoped to be achieved by 2030, are now a far-fetched dream due to disruption in education, which has led to an increase in education budget gaps. This could lead to a variety of challenges in the global educational field, such as an increase in the dropout rate becoming a problem. The issue of exclusion will pave the way for long-standing gender disparities.
In India, we too have best practices to stem the rot for ensuring education remains an all-inclusive affair. Digital learning platforms are being activated. But the million-dollar question remains: how the nation sees the future repercussions once the lockdown is over? Due to the disruption in education, it is expected that few children will go back to the school when schools reopen, and a few may not. Another peculiar problem we are expected to see is social distancing, little or no sports, social distancing may lead to getting socially distant.
Today we have seen in areas like Bhalessa where education was once scarce has seen a paradigm shift from conventional education to e learning or e classroom.
Tucked away from the limelight and hustle-bustle of the city is Bhalessa. While nature has blessed the township with abundant resources to boast of, the other thing that this little mountain town proudly boasts of these days is the booming interest in education and growth in resources facilitating the same.
While years back, there was just a measly primary school, with scarce attendance and tattered infrastructure to speak of in Bhalessa; today education seems to be the buzz word in this seemingly sleepy, calm and laid back town near Jammu. It seems as though a wave of change and revolution has swept over the area making it an upcoming education centre, least to say.
With numerous educational institutions supporting elementary to higher as well as technical education in the area.
Bhalessa has become a major educational institutions centre. Where education was once a rarity today one finds numerous set-ups are feeding the town’s hunger for education; thanks to the efforts of the state and centre in this direction.
In order to provide education in an electronic way or we can say the e-schooling initiatives, several best practices have been initiated by the PRI and DDC level.
Some of the path breaking initiatives and best practices which are being implemented area:
e-school initiatives in Bhalessa : A rural area in Doda
Establishment of Bachelor of Computer Application Lab at Government Degree college Kilhotran Bhalessa (Doda) : The BCA Lab in GDC Kilhotran will pave a way to earn a BCA degree for the local students. The lab is being established under the DDC Grants of the local DDC Member Nadeem Sharief Niaz. The Procurement of e-classroom in Higher Secondary School Kilhotran (Component – DDC Grants) is being established to provide technology based education for the children.
This includes the Interactive Panel, Display Ratio : 16:09, Resolution: 3840 x 2160, Brightness 2400 cd/m² 178 or better viewing angle. The procurement of repairing of the school and educational infrastructure by the local DDC grants has been a first of its kind to bring qualitative improvement in the existing system of education.
The creation of the special labs in the most improvised schools like HSS Kilhotran Bhalessa, Government High school Thaloran Bhalessa, special e classrooms in the rural settings of the Government high school sinoo Bhalessa, procurement of desks and creation of educational infrastructure is a new ray of hope of the children, the e classrooms and infrastructure for Government Higher secondary school Bharti Bhalessa, and Government High school Bharti, Smart classes for Middle school change creation of state of art infrastructure in these schools is a noble and progressive idea and will certainly revolutionize the education system in the area. The efforts of the DDC Member Nadeem Sharief Niaz for the educational advancement of Bhalessa is herculean and can prove beneficial for the students of the area.
The need for revolutionising teaching and learning was felt in the aftermath of the COVID 19 pandemic and as a result of the transition from the traditional system of education to digital education, according to Nadeem Sharief Niaz, a local DDC Changa territorial constituency. “For the greater interest of the children and the demands of the parents, we have taken in this initiative,” he said. It’s worth noting that Govt. Degree College Kilhotran is an Affiliated College located in the Bhalessa area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir. It was formed in 2008 and is managed by the State Government. According to Nadeem Sharief Niaz, Member DDC Changa Bhalessa, “the development of the BCA lab by the local DDC would pave the road for the children to go for computer education and, in turn, it will assist them earn their living by acquiring a BCA degree, which has a career potential in the current age.”
