A local court granted bail to Bajrang Muni Das of Maharishi Shri Laxman Das Udasi Ashram, who was accused of making a hate speech and issuing a “rape threat” in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur, TheHindu reports.
On Saturday, district judge Sanjai Kumar granted the seer bail. On Sunday morning, he was freed from the district jail.
On April 13, Das was detained after Ramnaresh filed a complaint against him.
Following his release, the seer stated that he is willing to go to jail a thousand times and suffer countless attacks in order to protect his religion and women.
“I have no responsibility for what I said…,” he stated, according to TheHindu.
On April 2, Das, the mahant of Maharshi Shri Lakshman Das Udasi Ashram in Khairabad, Sitapur, is accused of making a hate speech against Muslims. It was later captured on video and shared on social media platforms.
In a two-minute video of his statement outside a mosque, he can be heard referring to a community as “jehadi” and warning them that if any Hindu female is abused by any member of that community, he will rape their women.
Hours after police filed a FIR against him, another video of him apologising for his statement surfaced.
