Two notorious drug peddlers have been arrested in the Thathri and Bhaderwah areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, a police official said.
During its operation Sanjeevni against drug peddlers, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Doda apprehended two notorious drug peddlers with Charas.
In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, police said that a police party from Karara Police Post, led by Head Constable Mohd Shahnawaz, while deployed with Naka duty/area domination at Karara, observed the suspicious movement of one person who was coming from the hill side. On seeing the police party, the said person tried to flee, but he was chased by the police party and apprehended. 295 gms of charas-like substance were recovered from his possession during his search.On enquiry, the said person disclosed his name as Mohd Hussain S/o Mohd Ramzan R/o Domail Bhaderwah. In this connection, case FIR No.58/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Thathri and investigation of the case has been started.
While another drug peddler, namely Mohd Yaseen S/o Mohd Iqbal R/o Droundi Bhalla Tehsil Bhalla, was apprehended with 250 grms of poppy straw like substance on Bhalla road by a police party of Police Post Bhalla led by PSI Ankush Kumar, IC PP Bhalla, while the police party had laid a Naka on the road. In this connection, case FIR No.76/2022 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Bhaderwah and investigation of the case has been started. The forward and backward links of the accused persons are being ascertained to unearth the source of the supplier/buyers.
The recovery of contraband items was made from the possession of accused persons by the police parties of Police Post Karara & Police Post Bhalla under the supervision of Inspector Amrit Katoch, SHO Police Station Thathri and Inspector Jatinder Singh Rakwal, SHO Police Station Bhaderwah, respectively, under the overall supervision of Aftab Ahmed Mir, Addl. SP Bhaderwah.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Doda Police under operation SANJEEVANI has continued its war against the drug peddling, manufacturing of illicit liquor, destruction of cannabis and opium crops in the district in which a number of FIRs have been registered and a number of accused persons have been booked, including many notorious drug peddlers and main suppliers.
