The nexus between the forest employees and the forest smugglers is not new in Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir including felicitating the construction & agricultural activities on forest land, green felling in Marwah, Warwan and other areas of the Chenab basin- now another scandal has surfaced in Kishtwar District wherein about 24000 plant saplings had been found missing from a forest Nursery falls in Udail forest range of Marwah Forest Division in Kishtwar District.
As per the details available with The Chenab Times, the in Rahal Nursary, the Forest department last few years had grown around 40000 plant saplings in the said Nursary, out of which only 16000 plant saplings were found inside the Nursary area while their is no data available with regard to missing 24000 plant saplings in the said Nursary that falls in Chatroo area of Kishtwar District situated few kilometres from District Headquarter guarded round the clock by manpower engaged by the forest department.
It is pertinent to mention that only few days ago Kishtwar police registered an FIR against forest officials and a private persons for attacking the police party in Palmar area of the District and arrested three forest officials who were later released on bail from the local court.
